The Positive Effects of Listening To Music To One’s Health

Music has been always been recognized as the language of the soul. This is basically the main reason why people just love listening to music. But recent studies showed that music have positive effects towards one’s health and overall well-being. However, these claims are not new since the therapeutic effects of music have been discovered since the ancient times.

Writings of Plato, Aristotle and Pythagoras suggest that music can help improve the quality of life. It also has a direct influence on a person’s social, intellectual, cognitive, physical and emotional well-being. To help you better understand how listening music can positively influence your health, read on below.

Music helps reduce pain. Certain studies have showed that listening to music can help decrease pain by releasing more endorphins, which serve as natural pain killers. It also aid in diverting one’s attention to temporarily forget about feelings of pain by encouraging complete relaxation. A study conducted by the Journal of Advanced Nursing revealed that listening to music on a regular basis can decrease chronic pain by up to twenty one percent.

Music is a good brain cell stimulator. Research studies showed that upbeat music stimulate brainwaves by encouraging alert thinking and sharper concentration.  Soothing classical music, meanwhile, helps improve one’s focus and bring the mind to a meditative or calmer state.

Music can improve one’s exercise performance. People who listen to music as they exercise are more likely to complete and stick to their exercise regimen since music can help evade the feelings of exhaustion, boredom and fatigue.

Music brings forth optimism. Listening to music can help one to develop a more positive mindset. I, for one, like listening to music particularly when I feel depressed.  For a more fulfilling listening experience, I connect my laptop to my HDTV via an 8m hdmi cable to better appreciate high-definition audio. Listening to good, soothing music helps boost one’s self esteem and self confidence.

What’s With Music These Days?

Recently at the MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga showed her schizophrenic side by showing up as her grease ball male alter ego, Joe Calderone.  We couldn’t decide whether he looked more like a reject from a casting call for “Grease,” off broadway, or the character Andrew “Squiggy” Squigman from the 1970s sit com Laverne and Shirley — but whatever the case, Gaga was clearly off the mark.  Many in the LBGT community (for those of you who don’t know what that stands for, no, it is not the name of a new lettuce and tomato sandwich;  it stands for lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender) lauded her characterization, seeming to take it as some sort of banner event for their kind while completely overlooking the fact that it was a hideous performance overall and was ridiculous looking.  -Later in the show, Gaga tried to top Madonna by attempting to steal a kiss from Brittney Spears, but even the Brittster looked a little freaked out by Gaga’s goofy looking, overblown character.  She wore a “not in a million years” expression on her face as she turned her cheek to Gaga and squinted uncomfortably.  Good for you, Brittney!  Incidentally, you know something’s pretty bad when someone like Brittney Spears turns it down.  In Brittney’s defense, however, it should be noted that she does seem to be doing better lately.  She’s having a successful tour, behaving in public by treating her children responsibly and not revealing her panties to photographers.  Could this be “comeback Brittney” at last?  We shall wait and see. -Gaga’s Joe Calderone spent most of his time on stage swearing, talking junk about Lady Gaga, and repeatedly insisting that she wasn’t there.  He kept unnecessarily reminding the crowd that he was Joe Calderone, when the single introduction would have been quite enough really.  The musical performance was not that great, either, as Calderone sat down to the piano and wailed out some song fully in Gaga’s voice, but still looking like a caricature of a 1950s Italian stud muffin, an excessively greasy looking one who chain smoked, dropped the F-bomb more times than would have sounded cool, and just generally made me embarassed for Lady Gaga, which is saying quite a mouthful given my general apathy towards her.  Let’s all hope that something comes along to help ground Lady Gaga, before she goes totally from being a wildly innovative star to the laughing stock of the music industry.  She seems perilously close to it now.

Where Should the Musicians Go?

BandWriter.com is a musician’s website and artist review site. There can never be enough of these! Because spam averages 78 percent of all email sent, sites that cut out the junk are mandatory in our web browsing. Yes quality sites are hard to come by and the time spent on a ‘new to you’ website is a 50/50 shot at something you will find useful. This is even truer for musicians.

Musician aimed websites like Broadjam, Harmony Central etc. rely on the overpopulated market of music makers looking for resources online. What is with the low quality? BandWriter.com is run by a group of blogger musicians who believe that music sites and communities should be under scrutiny. There is too big of market for all these little sites that waste a musician’s time and offer a spammy, worthless neighborhood. Yes quality needs to be breathed back into music websites. There should be no tolerance for low quality anymore. No doubt we will see some smaller sites that offer genuine content and high quality communities become large game changers and authority sites.

Musician Tuner Magazine could be one of those. A true game changer for online music news. This site, while only in beta stage, is already basing its content off of what musicians want and need. From what they claim the site will become a standard in online journalism. With promises of strong content and stunning visual methods they promise to give musicians what they want. MusicianTuner.com Launches October 1st.

Everything There is To Know About Music College Degree Programs

Do you want to change careers because you are already tired of your present job? Or, perhaps you want to advance from your current work position? If so, then there is really no need for you to spend years to be able to get a promotion or find a high-paying job. Thanks to the emergence of certificate degree programs, you can now learn and increase your earning potential without spending too much time in school. In addition to that, you can fast-track your career while being able to obtain all the necessary knowledge and skills needed for a new job.

Majority of schools offering certificate programs can be completed in less than a year. There are also coursework that will allow you to complete the program in as short as three weeks to a month. Compared to earning a degree or diploma, obtaining a certificate is much easier since it can be completed within a very short span of time not to mention the fact that it also costs less.

Certificate programs, in essence, are designed to help prepare interested students, like you, to enhance your professional skills or specialize on a particular type of trade (i.e. medicine, construction, technology). Obtaining certificates will also help you build a good and more impressive resume which will give you a competitive edge. Earning a certificate for a certain type of trade or profession can show your dedication and determination. It also helps demonstrate your eagerness to learn and to succeed in your chosen career, which is plus points for employers.

The length of certificate course program will vary greatly depending on the type of class you will be taking as well as the school where you will be getting it from. Certificate programs that can be completed within a few weeks are usually designed to provide students with more advanced skill set on their current career or work position. On the other hand, certificate programs that take a couple of months to complete usually aim to prepare students who are looking to switch careers.
Admission requirements for schools offering certificate programs will differ greatly. Some may not have pre-requisites but there are also those that would require students to satisfy specific requirements.

My Music My Passion

There’s just something about music and the internet being a match made in heaven.  Even if the big record labels don’t quite get it.  They’ve been fighting for years the issue streaming and downloading music online.  Meanwhile, sites like LISTENMUSIC.FM , just keep letting people listen to the music the love,  in a way that works for them.  I really believe, that streaming music is the way of the future for internet music.  While downloading music has been a hot topic for years, it’s a model that rally needs improvement.  What if I don’t have my iPod, or my smart phone with me,  that has my entire music collection.  Then, how am I supposed to be able to listen to the music I like so much.  Some of my favorite music includes everything from Rock Steady to Bruce Springsteen, to Bob Marley to We Stand Alone.

Streaming music,  is sort of like radio but with a massive dose of awsomeness added for good measure.  You usually, don’t have to listen to DJ’s taking or commercials trying to sell you things you really don’t want.  Plus, you get to set up your own play lists and artists.  The more sophisticated sites will learn what music you like based on your previous selections, and play more of that kind of music for you.  Sometimes, they may even find artists you’ve never heard of before.  Back in the day, trying out a new artist usually meant laying down cold cash to buy an album you hope is good.  I don’t know how many albums I bought that way.  Sometimes I’d buy an album just based on the album cover.  Surprising, how often that worked out for me.  Lucky for you there are other options today.

Are There Really That Many Bicycles?

From the bad girls to the good girls, I love em all.  It’s the voice that matters really, and Kaite has one of the most beautiful, unrestrained and effortless set of pipes I’ve ever listened to.  She certainly cultivates a different image from the one Amy of my last post presents.  It’s true, that there’s something about a well grounded singer that appeals to me and is reflected in their music.  Katie’s music is not as edgy and dark, but still maintains a sense of intelligence and pop sensibilities.  And, I mean that in a good way.  I’ve never had a problem with pop music that appeals to a more mainstream crowd.  While I must admit that the exotic and edgy stuff has ad appeal, sometimes real life has enough of that grit.  And those are the times, when I need someone that’s simply going to make me feel better.

Music that touches the inner romantic in all of us is a great thing.  And, whether we admit it or not, we all need it sometime.  Music feeds all our souls, and the soul is a complicated organ.  Sometimes, it needs to be punched out, smacked silly, and then sometimes it just needs to be propped up.  Music from all different artists is required for a task like this.  That’s why my music collection has Amy Winehouse, Katie Melua, Bob Marley, Nickleback and Chopin in it.  Life is interesting that way , don’t you think?

Amy, Where’s My Moral Parallel?

I don’t know why it is, but for some reason certain lyrics stick in my brain.  I think it may be because I’m a bit daft, and don’t really understand what they mean.  I know that in this particular tune Amy is singing about some guy she’s attracted to but really needs to stay away from.  Whatever, at least I think that’s what the lyrics are about.  I don’t get what a moral parallel is though, like I said before though, I may be a little slow.  I suppose I could Google it, but that always seems like cheating to me.  I really like this song though.  I think it’s mostly the melody that catches my interest.  Or it could be my fascination with things I don’t understand.

Yep, it’s true, I like things that make no sense to me.  I like to be confused sometimes, and that’s how certain lyrics in this song seem to me.  I suppose I could have titled this “What” and not “Where’s” my moral parallel.  Not that I think Miss Winehouse is ever going to answer, and to be honest, I’d be somewhat disappointed if she did.  It would sorta spoil my image of her.  I really do love her music and voice.  Kind of the way it transcends seamlessly different genres.  And she does it with such strength and integrity.  I’m listening to her right now through Grooveshark (my favorite streaming service).   Anyway, enough babbling from me.  I’m off to crank up Amy a bit more and see what happens.  You never know where a song is going to take you.
